Diego Orihuela [ Terraformación ] Starting from the notion of panorama as the total vision, the project explores the principles of virtual navigation found in video games with no set goal, whose sole purpose is the exploration of the territory itself. Given the enforced confinements brought about by Covid-19, the creation of these realities pretends to satisfy our nostalgia for consuming the physical world as it opens up a diverse set of narratives about the formation of the virtual form of the panorama in cyberspace. This practice of endless, non-teleological exploration, with the expansive digital worlds that make it possible, inverts the anthropocentric promises of this geological transformation of the earth -- instead of offering hope for survival in the face of catastrophe, it is shown to be another form of denying the crises of the present. In Terraformación 1 the limits of the territory built for personal delight and escapism are visible; the properties of simulation and navigation nonetheless allow us, as passive viewers of this experience, to imagine a world in which one can have totalizing vision, a world that exists for a sole individual, pleased with the freedom to endlessly explore the interactive panorama of this digital space.
